INSPIRE and EXPLORE on a weeklong yoga, sea, and surf adventure with Maile in the natural beauty of the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica. Awaken to the songs of scarlet macaws at the gorgeous Boca Sombrero eco-retreat center, situated on a secluded, pristine beach. On the southernmost peninsula of Costa Rica, the Osa’s virgin lowland forests and unpopulated beaches, are home to hundreds of species of plants and animals. There’s nothing like practicing yoga on a gorgeous seaside deck to a symphony of birds, insects and monkeys.
Located right on the water, the retreat center is a launching point for waterfall hikes, beach and stream explorations, and bird and wildlife viewing. For those more mellow moments, there’s a large swimming pool and plenty of cozy places to lounge with a book or to snack on a mango. This is the perfect place for aspiring and experienced surfers, with a beginner/intermediate break right outside our door and a world-class point break, Matapalo, just 10 minutes away.
Boca Grande’s twenty-acre beachfront property has been designed to promote privacy and welcome wildlife. Luxurious open construction houses and deluxe thatched-roof platform tents, provide comfortable accommodations with steady ocean breezes and views of the surrounding sea and mountains. Light, delicious meals, with an emphasis on local produce, will be served. Maile will offer two yoga classes a day: an active morning practice to welcome the day, and a more meditative evening practice to sooth us after our daily adventures in the sun.
**Price includes 7 nights lodging, all meals, 2 yoga classes a day, transport to &from airport. (Airfare and hotel gratuity not included.)
After flying into San Jose (SJO), we will need to take a brief, local flight to Puerto Jimenez (PJM)
Sansa and Nature Air are the two airlines that have several flights daily to Puerto Jimenez. The Sansa flight is 1 hour, and costs approximately $95US each way.
Both airlines (www.flysansa.com and www.natureair.com) make special offers on their websites. These cheap tickets have to be booked online. Please note that Nature Air takes off at Tobias Bolano Airport in Pavas/San Jose, which is about 30 minutes taxi drive ($20) from the Juan Santamaria International Airport. So if people don’t stay over night in San Jose they should fly Sansa and just change terminal at Juan Santamaria International Airport.
